Well it seems hagoromo did not perform the edo tensei(impure world reincarnation)
what he did was something else which allowed him to summon the kages from the
pure world. The pure world being the afterlife. This can tell us something about the
edo tensei also that edo tensei is just the same as the asura indra reincarnation
thing but in the case of edo tensei the soul(reincarnation) is brought forcefully from
the after life into a new host unlike asura indra host transfer. the kages were revived
fully(body and soul) unlike the edo tensei which only summons the persons soul into
another host body.

The yin yang concept can also be brought into this thaat edo tensei is the ying
technique which only summons the spirit while what hagoromo performed is yin
yang which brought both the spirit and body back. So the edo tensei is therfore
the impure reincarnation as it is not complete and the other one is the
pure

If you take a closer look you would notice that the kages have different features from
the edo tensei. They do not have cracks on their faces nor are their eye colours inverted
and they seam to be glowing like naruto was when he received the sages senjutsu.

So the question at point is what does kishi intend to do by fully summoning the kages
through hagoromo. Is another plot twist at hand?

madara is the third mizukage theory out of the window

I dont think he summonded their bodies but only summoned their soul, thats why it seems they are glowing. I dont think they will serve any purpose, unless the s06p tries to use them to take over the world

The third mizukage was never Madara to begin with... His hair is wayyy shorter than Madara's and has more bags under his eye than current (not the old one) Madara.

What Hagoromo did was the same thing Obito did -- in a way. Though, those souls would need a living body to reside in, pretty much being a jinchuuriki by having a human inside you instead

It's just their spirits, really. And the Sandaime Mizukage has a tattoo around his eyes, that's all (bzw, we know this guy from a Hashirama flashback). There were people who thought Madara was the Sandaime? lol
