No not really I had my suspicions the first time Ichigo went Bankai and Byakuya mentioned that noble houses have greater spirit power, but then again I wasn't that surprised that Masaki was a Quincy either since the whole story of her being killed was fishy in the first place...also I believe she isn't dead.

No one's surprised because it was obvious. We saw it coming months ago.

1. Ichigo looks like Kaien, Ganju looks like Isshin, and Karin looks (somewhat) like Kukaku
2. Kukaku said they had an uncle
