For those of you who play World of Warcraft, similarly to me, I would like to know your opinions on the new expansion announced earlier, Warlords of Draenor.
My opinion? I CAN'T WAIT.
Awesome things:
  1. NEW CHARACTER MODELS. Seriously, I've been waiting for god knows how long for a reskinning of some races... Undead and Orcs and most vanilla races looked kinda derpy in comparison to the newer races
  2. DRAENOR. Now this may just seem very 'meh' and 'rehash' for lots of pre-Wrath players who were there when the Outlands got introduced, but for a Wrath baby such as myself this is just awesome to have it re-released. Additionally if you're also a crazy roleplayer like me, if you've got a Draenei or an Orc, then you're gonna have a whale of a time.
  3. GARRISONS. I haven't been expecting this or looking forward to it, but it's neat non the less; it's basically a personal home which other players can go to, which would be PERFECT for roleplaying, absolutely.
  4. OLD KEY CHARACTERS RETURN. Grommash, Durotan, Gul'dan, Ner'zhul... you name it, everyone's gonna be here. Again, awesome for old players or lore freaks like myself.
Maybe not so awesome things, but could work out:
  1. INSTANT LEVEL 90? Now when I saw this I may have WTFed slightly... I mean, I thought the scroll of resurrection, instant level 80 thing was a little odd, but this? Geez... Not that I don't understand why they're doing it. I do perfectly understand the fact that old players who are massively behind want to catch up but not have to grind all over again, which is fair enough, as it is for raiders who want an alt. But it just seems a little... too good of a deal I guess, for new players. I mean, we're going to have people who have NEVER played before suddenly becoming Level 90. Now remember what it's like when you're level 15, you go into your dungeon group and find out your tank is a Restoration Druid wearing cloth intellect gear in cat form. Not massively bad trouble as level 15 dungeons are easy anyway, but... at level 90, seeing a player running around in agility gear while resto and queuing as tank? Not looking forward to that... plus they miss out on the leveling aspect (the main aspect of the game) completely mostly...
  2. NEW STATS + RETIRING OF OLD STATS. I can see why getting rid of hit and expertise would be the biggest sense of joy for some people, but... I'm gonna miss those guys. Does this mean we have a 100% chance to hit now? I assume they'll do something for dual-wield so they still have a chance of missing but still... seems a little odd considering I'd grown accustomed to it, as had everyone else. Also, new stats include Movement speed and cleave? Cleave is basically where a damaging attack can have a chance to hit other nearby enemies. Sounds good, but movement speed to me sounds a little pointless, apart from dodging fire in raids... a little unnecessary.
That's about all the new features revealed thus far. Still no release date, but here's the website so you can keep up to date:

just saw the trailer (damn i forgot blizzcon started in the 8th on november), was pretty interesting. i don't play wow a lot but i am interested in the game, especially the lore.

Spoiler Alter!
the thing most people are going to nerdgasm over is the world pvp zone, a new alterac valley. people were trolling for this for years now, if blizzard can pull the same thing with this they will probably win over lots of players.

the new zone is really interesting, espacilly with the old characters we are going to meet through time travel(i assume?) or something. at this point i have read 4 novels from the wow franchise and the lore is really amazing, and all those dreanor orcs are incredibly importent later on, Ner'zhul was turned into the lich king, Durotan is the father of Thrall, Gul'dan brought the orcs to azeroth, Khadgar was the apprientice of Medivh and i hope this time they treat him better. they kinda ruined the lore with the last two expansions cause they left out very importent characters, Rhonin should have f**king been in cataclysm.

the instant level 90 i don't mind, if people are doing pugs they should expect unexperienced players, just get a couple of friends and do a pug with a dps. and for raids a guild is a must have anyway.

all in all it seems to be a solid expansion, much better then pandaria but still not as epic as they could have done it. i know they want to hold on before getting to the dark below and ending with a sargeras raid which will basicly be the end of wow, but they have to do it at some point and i don't want that expansion when wow is in crumbles.

one thing for sure, expect to see medivh. i can't wait to get that guy back :D

Is World of Warcraft good?
it depends on who you ask, it certainly isn't for everyone, but if you're into those stuff it's really good.

also, it has 7 million subscribers paying a monthly fee, so if it's good or not, it's successful.

It's all a matter of opinion really. Some people don't like it as it is quite repetitive, and other things about it people also don't like; it's like any game really, some people dislike certain things while others like them. I personally think it's great as it's a very social game where you meet lots of new people and make quite a lot of friends you never would have otherwise, while being an entertaining game.

I've been playing wow since like right before BC dropped. I'm looking forward to the expansion myself as BC is where I really started playing.

As far as the instant lvl 90, everyone will get ONE. They are talking about possibly making it so you could pay for additional ones but I honestly don't see it happening. I really think that it's a smart move though if they want a chance at picking up new subs. How many people would start playing WoW now knowing that the first month (roughly for a new player) is going to be just getting up to lvl 90. And they have already stated that they are going to have an event similar to dk's starting zone for people to learn their toons.

Also they are doing away with dodge/parry along with hit/exp. Not sure how tanking will be then. They're also doing a massive item squish which is great. Really hate seeing tanks running around with 1 mil hp.

That person put up like every video from blizzcon live stream if you want to watch and see some of what they are doing.

I played wow for 4 years and quit during cataclysm

to me the trailer looked pretty awesome, and if you know the lore, Draenor might suggest continuing the whole burning crusade and kiljaeden story.

I won't lie, WOW is really fun, but MMO's just don't do it for me anymore. It just gets repetitive after so long, especially at high levels.
