That is the first noticeable difference between the two rivalries, because, as you all know, Sasuke was the sought after genius in Naruto and his rivalry. Although, it seems like those roles were reversed when it came to Madara and Hashirama.

Finally, somebody else sees that. I've been saying this since the last chapter was released. Everyone says "yeah, Madara is Sasuke, Hasahirama is Naruto, deep" when it's the opposite. Hashirama was the natural genius, while Madara was the envious one only wanting to keep up. Hashirama's personality is kind of like Naruto's, but the Hashi-Madara relationship is reversed.

It's not just him. Uchiha's are very impressionable and sensitive. They highly value their own pride. They are probably the most trustworthy and fearsome beings in the NV. They will always keep their promises to you and expect you to do the same. Even though Sasuke doesn't show it and is compelled to act out of hatred, he considers Naruto his closest friend and is the only one he respects and admires out of all of Konoha.

Dude I totally get you, that's why Sasuke acknowledged Naruto when he said he was his friend, after Sasuke fought Danzo, he seemed astonished that someone still thought that he could be brought back to the village and that he could still be loved even after what he's done to so many.

OT: About the whole Madara relationship with Hashirama, we all have to remember that Naruto has stated several time "Sasuke what if our rolls were to be reversed" that was also shown in the post Danzo clash with the Chidori/Rasengan. Sasuke is manipulating the Rasengan while Naruto is using Chidori. It just goes to show that there were some sublte hints as to what would happen and we're going to get much more insight on what's to come, between Hashi and Madara and there must be a lot!
