Not a single one of the Kages knows a sealing technique? Not one? Even though they're supposed to be the strongest ninja in their villages? Shouldn't this be a part of the required ninja curriculum at this point? Ya know, with the whole danger of deadly, tailed demons escaping and killing people every ten or twelve years or so.

The reason I ask is because all the kages did was try to beat Madara down with force. But...no seal? I understand the whole "susano" thing might make that difficult..but not even an attempt? Why is this?

I believe they did try to seal him, but Madara broke out before the seal could be completed.

Madara was never in a position to be sealed. The closest was when they did in fact seal him, but it turned out to be a wood clone (this was after Tsunade's will of fire speech, and I believe Gaara did use his sand seal)...Madara popped out from under the ground

I think he did at the very beginning when Naruto's clone was helping and the army was not dead yet. But he just never got another opening big enough to try it again, I guess.

Perhaps some of the Kages do (Gaara does, of course) but perhaps their sealing techniques are not strong enough or they can't find enough opportunities to seal Madara.

yes it most likely is. Most of the Madara vs Kage fight is blocked out as those five or so chapters contains the Kage Madara fight at its most highlited moment.
