Itachi already "lost" his right eye in a previous manga fighting Kabuto. So given your theory, he should have ALREADY activated Izanami back then. IDK about this whole Izanami thing... and being the Troll Master that he is, I'm sure Kishi will go to another fight this week and leave the Uchiha fight alone for a few Mangas, just b/c we are super interested in that fight now. SMH

I was just about to do this, we just have to wait till next chapter. Something hit me though itachi may actually be either sealed or back in kabuto controlled, itachi has been "killed" a few times in this fight but kishi made this one so dramatic with 3 panels of different angles. Anyway we will find out next chapter.
