So in May I and all of my friends I studied with were accepted into the nursing program. These were all cool people and all but the one I talked to the most was my friend Benjamin. He seemed to be pretty laid back and normally could handle tough situations. While we were in pre nursing sometimes I would freak out and get nervous about certain things we had to study because I didn't wanna make anything under an 85 and he would calm me down and reassure me that everything is fine. A few days ago he was talking to me to calm me down because I had to resumbit required medical lab reports to our nursing school because my doctor gave me the wrong papers.

On Friday everyone accepted into the nursing program had to come to the nursing orientation to get prepared for the program. One of the ladies on the nursing board told us look to our left and right because the people next to us were probably going to quit the nursing program. Me and my friend Benjamin were setting by each other and we looked at each other and laughed than I said "That's funny because I know we aren't gonna quit." and he agreed.

So Monday came and it was the first day of class and it was extremely overwhelming because the nursing board piled us with a lot of last minute information. On the second day of nursing school I didn't see my friend and a bunch of people kept asking me were was Ben. I called him and he told me he changed his major to something else because he was overwhemled about nursing because of Monday. I feel kinda sad but I told him to do great on the major he picked. Some of my other friends are reassuring me that it's okiay and it proves I'm strong because I didn't drop and how I shouldn't care but I do care. This was someone who I spend a lot of time hanging out with and studying with.

Is it weird that I care about my friend and kinda sad he isn't going to be in the program to finish with me?

Its normal to miss someone who you liked and spent so much time with. Things will get back to normal over time.

Uhh... how is it even remotely weird? I don't understand, feeling regretful that a long time friend won't be there to share your hardships and successes, making the whole experience more bearable is only natural, no?

Congratulations on getting into your program of choice :)

Not many people would consider your feelings "weird" in the slightest. Do you think your feelings stem from fear of choosing your program? Do you think you're feeling nervous about quitting yourself?

I was just curious because the people around me are doing like it's weird and I should just get out it.

The people around me seem to think it's weird for some reason.

I think I can stay calm but it's just that I didn't expect him to quit after being overwhelmed because he seemed to be laid back.

Thanks, also no I'm not gonna quit. It's really more of me worrying about him. Out of all our friends he only told me why he quit the program and he didn't sound too happy. Everyone keeps asking me if I talked to him because he didn't answer their text ir calls.

Yeah I would be confused but if that's what he really wants then okay

Me personally I would ask him what happened if I know the person isn't the type to quit so easy

May I asked what he changed his major to? Do you think he really, really wants to be a nurse but just felt too nervous to try? Is there any way to get get back into the program?

I mentioned that I asked him and he said it was too overwhelming from the experience on the first day. It was extrememly unorganized on the first day. We has so much stuff to submit in a few days. We have to submit 22 quizzes for something called ATI on saturday. Our first test is on September the first. We gotta submit some clinical paperwork tomorrow for the hostipals or nursing homes we are doing clinicals at and some more paperwork on monday.

He changed it to education. I think he did want to be a nurse but from what happened on the first day he probably though he would have flunked the program because of how unorganized the first day was. Yes, he could try to get in the program again because he did all the pre nursing classe but he still has to be picked as one of the 60 to get in the program out of 700+ pre nursing majors.
