So is the Eien No Mangekyou needed anymore to awaken the Rin'negan?

Just a curious inquiry here. This chapter confirmed that you specifically need Ashura's AND Indra's chakra to awaken Rikudou's chakra which awakens the Rinnegan. So Naruto or Sasuke simply need each others chakra and or DNA and either of them have the same potential to awaken it. Hashirama nor Madara have the brothers chakra anymore as both of them died and it was passed on to Naruto and Sasuke. His DNA still has immense chakra and life force, but no longer the special properties that was Ashura's chakra.

If it is only the chakra that is needed, is the Eien No Mangekyou even needed to awaken the Rinnegan, rather than just the chakra (which is obviously rooted in the DNA of the person with Indra or Ashura inhabiting them)? Last chapter got me thinking, seeing as how it is actually more simplistic to awaken the Rin'negan through such simple means and that means both Naruto and Sasuke could awaken it simply by sharing chakra/DNA.​

I doubt it's needed, because if Naruto went to take Sasuke's DNA he would go straight to the rinnegan based on what Hagaromo said, A sharingan wouldn't be needed.

Actually, they have an equal chance now given the circumstances, but yes, that is my assertion. It has more to do with chakra rather than merely DNA or eyes. It all depends on what exactly they get from Hagoromo. Hagoromo specifically said he was giving Sasuke his power, and his power is Yin and Yang, so that may be the Rinnegan, and that would apply to Naruto as well.​

Kishimoto has made it clear what nature of power both received. Naruto got Rikudo's Yang and Sasuke his Yin.

Hagoromo also laments the awakening of the Rinnegan of Madara. He made the tablet to push people away from the Rinnegan...

Madara's Edo Rinnegan was specifically described as being an illegitimate Rinnegan by the Bijuu.

It was a mimic constructed by Kabuto with a mere fraction of its power.
