So I'm slightly confused....about canonically lables and all that.

Is an anime of a Manga and/or vice versa a canonical source of information?

Would you guys say that the anime is a canonical source to look to when looking up characters?

or that the Manga should only be the canonical source from which to draw knowledge from?

Not counting the fillers in an anime...

Both really, it's just that the anime generally needs extra's added on to expand upon each scene to make them more endearing to watchers. The anime always has the basic plot of the manga in it, yet has some extra bits here and there.

Well, the manga is the main extrapolation for the anime and contains every detail. So the manga.

Manga is the main story plot, fillers are various plots, or sometimes no plot at all. Get what I'm saying?

This is my opinion. For example, Hinata put up more of a fight in the manga then the anime, but this was probably due to Kishi not wanting to make it that long in the manga. I am sure he goes over stuff in the anime to make sure its the way he wants it.

The manga is as canon as it gets, that's all you need to know.

So we can never use the anime (not counting fillers) to use as a source?

No, he doesn not. Itachi's Susano is a clear example. It's yellow in the manga yet rad in the anime. Kishi would have never let that one slip. So no, he doesn't talk to the animators

I actually like the anime, for the most part fillers give most part give characters more depth.

He still doesn't apparently.

That's my point. Even if the manga is black and white Kishi knows what color he wants for everything. That's why he has color covers. If he had been in contact with the animators, he would have told them what color itachi's Susano should be (yellow, Sasuke's purple, Madara's blue) But because at that time Kishi had yet to make a cover featuring Itachi's Susano, the animators chose something by themselves.
