I'm not sure if it's mistranslated or what but that's really racist. It gave me a good laugh.

Sounds to me like it's complimenting Black people.

If you don't see what the OP sees, you're pretty slow.

I think Oda is referring to Yoko Gushiken, a Japanish boxer who had afro and was/is very famous and he is related with the term "champ" in Japan. Also the translation is bad and fails to make that connection, so no I don't think it's racist.

"The strength found in blacks is still a scientific mystery today"

come on that is clearly racial profiling, saying all blacks are strong. I feel like some people would be would be offended by that. Like if a white kid is fighting a black kid and someone says "you can't beat him, he's black."

Just like saying all asians are smart is complementing asians right?

I'm white so I can't really relate but I can see how some people would be offended.

Saying black people are strong is more of a stereotype than a racist statement. And I can't see how that would offend black people, saying they're strong.

I'm having a rather difficult time being insulted by this.

Well, it's not really insulting.

No, I get being offended by negative stereotypes but saying "All black people are strong" isn't negative.

No? What no?
I said some people, not you, or all black people. Believe me on this one, some Asians don't like someone, from another race, saying all Asians are smart, and some black people don't like someone saying all black people are strong. People have different reasons for being offended by such stereotypes.

As a caucasian, i'm pretty offended, but I cannot deny that there is some truth to it... :)
And yes, racism can work both ways...
