It is said that you die from using it, so it's impossible that he did it training unless that is just exaggerating a possibility of death.

One more thing, we know in part 1 Lee went up to 5 gates, how many can he open now? Maybe it was revealed in some anime filler or something, cause I haven't really seen him fight in part 2. I never bothered with most filler episodes either.

Nobody stated the 7th gate kills though, just leaves you hurting after use.

Yeah, if Guy dies (which i think he will ) I'm sure we will see some flashbacks of maybe him when he was younger. That will probably solve this dispute. Wait, what if Guy's teacher died in the 8th gate? Would be an epic flashback to show before he uses the 8th gate.
