The sword already hit the ground by the time madara flew to sasuke, which means that if he switched with the sword it would just fall from the air. If it's just there I doubt there's enough force to make it penetrate madara's body, even of he flew to it.

Sasuke didn't throw that sword.sasuke just swapped his place with the sword and sasuke didn't swap with madara.
