So how big is Konoha anyway?

We know the combined military might of the Five Great Villages: Roughly 100,000 ninja. We know Konoha is possibly the strongest, and has numerical superiority to the other villages (was it stated in a databook somewhere? Can't really remember.)

So, Konoha probably has around 25-30,000 active-duty ninja. My bet would be somewhere around 27,000.

My question is, could anyone estimate how large Konoha itself would be, in terms of population? What's the ratio of civilian to military population in heavily militarized countries today, and in the past?
