Not a madara fanboy, but Madara said it himself he was the only one who could see through hashi's mokuton clones. Stands to reason in order to further his dreams that he made it seem like lost, via genjutsu or something.

presuming madara didnt lose through being arrogant and believing the fight over, or lost on purpose, the OPs language suggests he believe Hashi is far strong than Madara, which with the ending to the fight showing, it was very close, and Hashi was left heavily injured and exhausted, so to say he is far superior is wrong, he's a shade stronger.
I personally believe Madara lost because he thought he won and underestimated Hashi, and Hashi was smart enough to capitalise on Madaras arrogance
