i thought rinbo hengoku was a bit like shinra tensei except using your eye to place the epic centre somewhere else rather than the person itself being the epicentre.. however im only going by what i read on the naruto wiki..

Rinbo does seem to be some variation of Deva. He used it against the Bijuus, to knock them down with an immense force without touching them. Seems like he targeted, (for lack of the better word) a Shirna Tensei in a downward position without a specific epicenter since he attacked multiple targets.

Against Obito, he threatened to use Rinbo against Obito in order to counter Kamui. I'm guessing Rinbo has to do with gravity manipulation of some sort, I felt like he planned to disrupt Obito in Kamui but shifting his body in a way that Madara could attack him with the black orbs. That's what I was thinking as a scenario but that's all speculation.

ye this seems possible and seems like a good explination.. the only other thing i thought of how madara could just freeze sasuke in place was by using a combination of rinnegan techs such as bansho'o tenin and shinra tensei by applying equal forces on sasuke thus keeping him hold in one place.. however this seems farfetched

You mean Applying the same power as earth s gravitational pull is aplying to keep him down with the rinnegan i don't think there is a need for madara to apply a power to push him down earth will do that but in theory yes it might be that other than that i don't think rinbo is a jutsu as shinra tensei after all shinra tensei could do was push away a 6 tail but no big damage to that while rimbo imobilized 9 bijuus at their respective full power

well sort of i guess .. same application by adding an equal force to both sides would result in sasuke not moving at all.. and with kishi we know he doesnt always use simple logic.. but the possibility of there being a lot more to rinbo such as gravitational control is a lot more likely

Yup ... I think he would either call it shinra tensei ( the pushin ) or bansho tenin (the pulling) its defnietly a diffrent jutusu i m sure of it ....not only the bijjus were blown away but it felt like their chakra was blocked as well after all they did 0 resisten to mazo

I came to roughly the same conclusion.
Since the user can control the strength of the gravity effects if they were to say...make the repulsion effect equal that of the earth's gravity(give or take some g's for momentum) it would produce that "weightless" effect.

This definition is strange, but to me rinbo seems to be akin to concentrated shinra tensei bullets. Madara can manipulate the force, and direction of them. Bansho tenin and shinra tensei operate on attraction and repulsion, respectively. Like Kirikoe mentioned, Madara could be applying equal force on to both sides to immobilize the enemy. Who knows, he very well could have control over all aspects of gravitational manipulation.

Bansho Tennin was what he used, Rinbo Hengoku is an offensive technique. He didn't use it on Obito because he was afraid it might damage the Rinnegan.

You don't get it do you Madara used it on the bijjus .. On sasuke to block his eyes ( because sauke didn't use any jutsu at all ) and threaten it to use on obito (but stoped because he wanted to preserve the rinnegan )
