Here's how I see it:

The Yata mirror blocks elemental attacks.

The sage ability turns pretty much any attack into nothing.

Is it safe to say since sage techniques work on juubito, they will work on tata mirror as well?

Sage techs are not classified as ninja arts, rather sage arts.

This proved my point. Most ninjas are born with elemental affinites. None are born with sage chakra.

So unless the yata mirror has experienced a sage art attack, it would not be able to defend against such.

And who said anything about the yata transforming into element to negate an attack ?

The Databook says "attribute". This doesn't necessarily mean "elemental attribute" unless you think that a rasengan (which has no elemental attribute for the yata to transform into) can crush yata ?? Everything has an opposite, yata simply transform into it, regardless of what the opposite attribute is
