Snakes are animals without legs and arms. They are carnivorous and eat animals like rats, birds etc etc but they also eat bigger animals than themselves but it all depends on their size. For example we've seen as anacondas have eaten large animals like dogs, even humans. There are four different types of venomous snakes in the US and all of them can be distinguished by their skin color normally snakes with red,black and orange are know to be venomous but there some slick snakes, that are not venomous but to protect themselves better they change their skin color so that animals and people think their venomous.
Snakes on narutoverse are the official summons of orochimaru, Lord Sasuke and Kabuto. In narutoverse the snakes vary in size, some are small enough to fit on your sleeves much like Orochimaru when he attacks his opponents releasing snakes from his sleeves and some are larger than buildings. Unlike toads snakes can't talk to the person that summoned them except for probably manda as we saw him talk to sasuke when he used him as a sacriface to save himself from deidara's explosion.

. They look a lot like those of the summonings in the naruto world, but of course a lot smaller. They slither around and can do it quickly to compensate for their lack of legs, and every once in a while, they shed their skin for a new one. They must keep their body warm, and they do this by staying in the sun a lot. Some are small, while others can go up to feet long. They are thick and they use their entire body to strangle their prey and they can eat them up despite their thin body. thats all i know <_>

By snakes, do you mean actual snakes or snake techniques? I'll just do both, lol
Well you can summon manda and go inside his mouth while he tanks some insanely powerful techniques. You can also summon snakes to overwhelm your opponent, giving them a limited time to take on you and your snakes with three jutsus. Uh.. let's see. They can be used to constrict the user by summoning the smaller snakes. Basically, the large snakes are used for intimidation and you can have them crush your opponent with their tails. As for techniques, I know you can summon them from your arm and have it like anko, which can be useful to evade. There's some snake techniques that are used but bound by orochimaru's bios.

They are an advantage in the battlefield as most of the snakes can take a lot of damage and not disappear. You can use them to overwhelm your opponent (s) as this snakes are really large. With the snake contract I'll be able to summon smaller snakes and surprise my opponent. The fact that I can also summon snakes from my sleeves is a plus.

I pull up my sleeve and cut my thumb by biting on it making my thumb bleed. I wipe my blood in my newly made tattoo. I then perform five handseals, moulding the chakra I would channel in my hands so that I could perform the technique. I channel the chakra directly on the tattoo, releasing an extremely large amount of chakra in the tattoo. A few seconds later, an enormous snake appears with a puff of smoke right in front of us.
"Hey, Manda?"
"Shut up you newb."
He has a bad attitude

I bite my right thumb causing it to bleed a little and I wipe it onto my tattoo on my left arm. I then proceed to perform a set of five hand seals and I finish off by slamming my hands on the ground.
