This is the stock of the same size as the outcome.

Credit for the light texture goes to kitz-love.deviantart.com

P.S. My first time using Photoshop. I like it, I even considering buying it after trial month. :win:

Really nice overall. I'm guessing you wanted this to be a smudge-only tag, so I won't really comment too much on the matter, but the corners are a bit, and really just a bit, empty. Other than that, the text is really nice and it isn't as blurry as the stock. All of your other mistakes you've already went over. You learn pretty quickly. Is Skorm your teacher :hint:

I like how you smudge lol. Can you kindly give me the brush used and the brush settings?

It's not a complicated brush.
It was most likely a hard brush with a small size but 70-95% strength. Not all good smudges come from the most elite brushes.
You just need time and practice.

Yeah, but the smaller the brush, the more work most likely. And I'm really lazy so a specific brush would be nice :p
I also realized that she used liquify. I thought it was a specific brush that made the effect.

Sorry. I'm a bit high right now.

It's a smudge-tag only, like it says in the title. xD And thanks for your CnC.
Lol Skorm is not my teacher + He's not doing smudge tags, as far as I know. And I am my teacher.

It's just Hard Circle, from 2 to 8 px, zoom from 200% to 400%, pen pressure on, strength: from 85% to 95%.

nice work
Thanks, mate. :)

Thats amazing ..... I just didn't like the text

Did you used Liquify ?
Tnx.
My text always end up being so bad. Every single time. >_>
Nope. I wrote above which options I used for this tag. *_*

looks amazing :D

If you want something nice no place for laziness. :win:

I sure do smudge tags. I've made one >_>. From absolute scratch.

Anyway hun, i am only impressed by the clarity so far. The smudge is too harsh and thus makes it loose it's smoothness and making it look a little LQ at some of the borders of the smudged areas. That being said it looks like you used max force and a one pixel brush and just smudged outwards. Anyway much better than many folks first timers using PS :p.

That is your first one and the only one, right?

Tnx for CnC. >_>

Btw, did you duplicate the stock, or did you directly smudge it?
Nope.

Oh, sorry! Lol I just read first part! xD
I didn't duplicate it, I was smudging directly.
It's fine XD

Maybe duplicating the layer, smudging the top layer and setting that top layer to soft light or lowering the opacity would help with what Skorm pointed out.

No it wouldn't, a duplicated layer set on soft light only makes the tag more contrasted really and it's not helping a smudge in any way. A smudge for me is something that has perfect balance of blended colors but still hasn't lost it's original motive. Lightning is a huge part of a good smudge imo and focals are made of light areas in smudges too. Just smashing on more contrast doesn't give a nice lightning if the original work has poor lightning set anyway. But that's what i think.

Well if you were to define it that way, Azu's smudge definitely looks like a beginner's smudge. To me, there's different styles of smudging. Your definition works for the smudges I do on my signatures and tags. Azu's tag seemed to focus on adding that "fire/hair/fur" effect, which probably wouldn't happen if she kept your definition in mind. Oh, well.

Why don't you give CnC on other people's works on here lol.
Just because she's your girlfriend and I'm not :dead:

I didn't even think your tag was smudge tbh LOL. A good smudge for me is to work with perfect color merges and somehow get a good lightning added to it. The fact that some manages to make awesome smudges without the use of renders or anything is for me the greater smudgers.

I've done that before, aww are you jelly? :3.

Ok, then.

Thank you for your insightful analyse. Will keep that in mind for the next time. :)
