Hate that I'm just now realizing this, but remember when we saw Smokers last battle? His Jitte got broke by Vergo, so he doesn't have it anymore.

What this possibly means:
A new weapon. Possibly a stronger jitte, or a new broadsword type weapon picked out by Tashigi.
New hand based attacks.
New offensive abilities that don't rely on weapons.
Improved haki.

From this point on, Smokers attacks will now move up a level. Also a potential development of seastone resistant if he decides to utilize it in a new way... it's already impressive that a Devil Fruit user like him is capable of casually walking around with a piece of seastone constantly on his back. I think this is a good thing, because while the seastone Jitte was very advantageous in battle for him, he relied on the jitte a lot and that dulled his focus on more smoke based attacks (and I say this not to discredit what smoke abilities he already has, just that they could be better).

As for a absolute prediction I believe Smoker will strengthen his Haki to it's highest ability and conquer the use of Full Haki, just like Vergo.
I say this because Smoker is basically the Marine Man of the manga, everything he does is for the better of the Marines... he lives for the Marines. He's all about the rules and wants to enforce the laws with an iron fist (and I mean that strength wise not like a dictator). We could see how irritated he was getting with Vergo when he simply wasn't strong enough to beat him, and how frustrated he became with him underestimating the marines. He can't have that happening in the future with his rank.

Furthermore Smoker is just like Luffy. He wants to protect his subordinates, just as Luffy wants to protect his Nakama and knows he has to get stronger to be able to conquer the future beasts he'll encounter in the New World. It had to hurt him to see his his men faling before him and him being unable to do anything about it.

Then lastly the manga doesn't do as great a job of showing it as the manga does but look at his face when Vergo goes full haki and then understand how humiliated he's been.

He's staring at Vergo as if thinking 'so this is what I was fighting and the full extent of my abilities. I have to get stronger'.

-Lost to a pirate once
-Became indebted to a pirate
-Technically lost to another pirate
-Had his crew get slaughtered then beat up by another pirate.

Smoker won't have that happening in the future and since he knows Luffy is roughly on par with those peoples levels, he has to get stronger. Vergo was his main opponent of that arch and seeing how beat up he was I am predicting he will achieve full haki.
Tl:dr- Smoker had a wake up call last arc and came to understand he needed to be stronger if he wants to survive in the New World and really pursue Luffy. He got beat up by everybody and seeing Vergo full haki almost gave him a heart attack. So that's why I'm predicting now instead of relying on the Seastone Jitte he's going to start honing his haki and smoke abilities to the full potential.

Not to mention it would be sort of poetic. A smoke and iron man mixed in one. And he's the first logia in the manga to demonstrate armament Haki. It's only fitting he develops full haki.

Smoker in my opinion uses his Devil Fruit on an elementary level. He only uses it too travel when he could do much more than that

Smokers potential

1)Smoke Strangle
2)Blinding Smoker
3)Smoker clones
4)Smokey breath

I feel like smoker is way to straight foward in his fights. Against Vergo he expaded his body and it lead to him being a bigger target for Vergo. Instead he should have used Smokey Breath to smoker up the battle field to take Vergo's vision away and his breathing. Then he could have used smoker clones to attack from all his blind spots

Sidenote:All I'm saying is Smoker need to step his DF game up he got to cocky

You're right, and he should really change the way he fights, but don't forget that the guy tried to get Law's heart back from Vergo, not actually defeat him. The difference in their strength, or rather haki, was as clear as it can get.

Preciiiiiiisseellyyyyyy. Exactly how I feel. He's using it the same level as Luffy using his Gomu Gomu no Mi during Alabasta.

That's why I'm saying it's a good thing Vergo broke his jitte, he relied on it too much and neglected his fruit. And with Law, he could've done the same thing like you said and used smoke breath. That would've been effective since Law ha not demonstrated Observation and wouldn't be able to tell where he was.

I know he was trying to get get Laws heart back but I'm talking about before that. My point is why try to fight a haki monster straight up. Its best he master his DF to narrow the gap

I think Oda had that happen exactly for this, so Smoker can start capitalizing on his devil fruits ability.

Oda Oda you sly dog you.

his greatest power would be mastering his smoke by entering his enemies body.

Am I the only one here who thinks smoker will just buy a new jttle or just repair the old one and continue using it? Smoker got beat by Vergo due that he had weaker Haki compared to Vergo he just needs to increase his haki level and he'll be fine.

I think his Devil Fruit usage is the key change, if his fighting style does indeed change.

Smoke can occur at any temperature above 0.02 Kelvin, as this is the lowest boiling point of any substance. Therefore I believe that because Smoker and Kuzan are friends and on the same Island as of last time we saw them, I believe Smoker will learn to lower the temperature of his Smoke. It could be deadly!

Since Smoker himself leaves what I like to call a stern/"cold" impression (although having a heart of Gold), I think it would suit Smoker to freeze his enemies from the inside out.

On the other hand (or in conjunction to this) he could superheat his Smoke. And burn his enemies, from the inside out too via inhaling.

You're over thinking all of this, the face and the jitte.

Back in MF he had his jitte snapped in half by a Shichibukai, if he was going to do something about that why didn't he do it back then?

It would be so cool if Smoker could enter peoples body in his smoke form and kill them from the inside. That would means you can't breath at all when fighting him
