Seeing your incoming Kunai, Ling would gather fire chakra into his gullet and spew it forth - converting it to flames. Taking advantage of the wide spanning area that his technique can cover, he would target both the Kunai, you, and the air itself. The flames spewed so as to cover a large angle, radiating into the trees, Kunai, and the ground itself.
Thus the trees would be ravaged by sharp embers, branches cut and trunks sent tumbling, toppling tree after tree whilst evaporating the moisture trapped within them, bringing them to a more ignitable state. The targeted ground before and around you would have the layer of mud hardened and heated exponentially, while the layer of water would evaporate, sending a spray of mist into your direction. All in all, the terrain would change and be devastated; dry and heated timber falling onto your position - creating a domino effect so as to force all of the trees surrounding you to fall; threatening to to crush you, the more readily ignitable leaves descending onto you, while the remainder of the flames itself rampages towards you.
Likewise, any water that is within range yet is not evaporated will instead be super-heated.

Description: The user builds up their katon chakra in their mouth and blows out a storm of embers that are sent spiraling towards the opponent at high speeds.Each ember is shaped like a leaf and thus that is where the justu gets its name.The leaf shaped flames are incredibly sharps they have serrated like edges and can easily cut through trees and rocks leaving cinders where it was sliced,the embers cover a large area both vertically and horizontally and thus can be difficult to avoid.

LOL, that description does not match up to that tech xD.
Kakuzu shoots out a tongue of slimy earth and rappels towards a nearby tree, before doing this in quick succession to escape the spreading fire. Eventually, the fire is doused by the falling rain and it stops spreading. If it doesn't, Kakuzu just keeps on swinging deeper and deeper into the forest till it does.

Description: The user expels a retractable cord of mud in the shape of an elongated tongue from their mouth. Its adhesive and retractive ability allow it to stick to objects and pull them towards the user or it can be used to pull the user towards another person. However its main purpose is to attach to any part of the terrain which is in range and pull the user to the desired location extremely quickly. It can also be used in quick succession to travel from one place to another.

Kakuzu escapes the measly mid-range technique and walks towards his foe in a menacing manner before, again, tossing a few explosive tagged kunai at him.
Ling throws his own explosive tagged Kunai to counter yours.
He then throws several Kunai in ascending parabollic arcs, so that they'll fall into the ground in a semi circle pattern at the borders of mid range behind you.
