Situational Question

[Ciao]

You're sitting down alone at your local coffee shop and you get a call on your cell phone. Your expecting wife has gone into labor. The hospital is a few blocks down the road and if you don't leave now you will miss your child's birth. You sprint out of the shop and head down the sidewalk. You make it halfway to the hospital when you hear a yell come from an alley. You peer into the alley and see a man getting mugged by two other men. You can stop and help the man but you will miss the birth of your first child or you can keep running to the hospital and let the man take care of himself. What do you do and why?

Are you fried? Who wouldn't go to the hospital to see their first born. Anyone can go help the guy getting rocked.

I would help the man being mugged (but not through a direct confrontation, I'd likely call 911 and draw attention to the situation). I wouldn't be able to face my child, knowing that I abandoned a man in need.

Help the man out then proceed to the hospital like any good citizen would do. It's not like your kid will remember his first year anyways and now you have a good story to tell him/her.

Hmmm, tricky question. Call 911 and then go to the hospital. It's true your kid wouldn't remember that you were there but your wife would. I mean, I'd say stop and help but what if you got your ass beat too? Then what? Of course this is a time where shadow clone jutsu would come in handy!

This is sad... very sad. Many of the people here do not give a shit about one another and only care about themselves. Turning a blind eye to evil is the only way it can succeed. It is no wonder we are having so many shootings people do not care about helping one another out anymore when they are in need. That mugger you let mug that guy in the alley might one day mug/rape your wife and because you did nothing to stop it you allowed her to be mugged/raped in the future.
