just like hashirama, naruto never wanted to fight sasuke to the death, he never wanted to kill sasuke. and that led to his downfall in part 1. sasuke stabbed naruto with his chidori in part 1 he was always trying to kill him off. he pussied out at the last minute in part 1 tho but regardless.
I was confused why naruto didnt use sage mode when he grabbed sakura saving her from sasuke at the hokage summit when naruto and sasuke clashed chidori and rasengan i always wondered why didnt naruto just senpoi rasengan his ass and own him. thats because naruto always tried to stalemate conflict and talk to sasuke. Just like in the latest chapter if naruto wanted to he could have destroyed sasuke with just sage mode taijutsu, but he wanted to take it to the point were sasuke was alive but just coudnt fight anymore.
