Honestly...I dislike both one piece and bleach. I know I'm going to get a lot of backlash for this...but screw it. I can't take one piece seriously because of it's animation style and the premise behind. "King of the pirates"??? Is there some type of pirate based monarchy we should know about?? That's like going to the bowling alley and proclaiming yourself the king/queen of bowling. Pointless. Plus...isn't one of the purposes of being a pirate being on the fringe and having to swindle and hustle to survive?? With that being said it defeats the purpose of a monarchy because in a monarchy there is a well established social hierarchy that involved the delegation of roles and a definitive distribution system. There's a sense of established honor among the majority in a monarchy...one of the reasons pirates became pirates is because they were looked down on as a counter culture who had disdain for the most prominent system at that time so they had to resort to doing all sorts of things to survive.


Bleach is just as bad. Oh god...where do I begin??? Well the characters are one dimensional. Every time I look there's fighting and ONLY fighting. I think naruto has me spoiled in that the "antagonists" get a chance to explain their perspective, their past and how they become who they are and by the end you realize they're not monsters and naruto as a character really enforces that by extending them mercy and helping them identify who they are and why they do what they do as opposed to just outright killing them. And that's more realistic because the truth is criminals weren't born criminals. More often than not they've undergone traumatic experiences and it had such a huge impact on them that they chose to illustrate that pain through others through taking their lives or causing pain. In bleach it's ALWAYS about ichigo and his powers..I thought bleach was pretty cool when I started watching it but then as I progressed through the series I realized it had no substance.

So,..if you can suggest an anime/manga to me with as much substance as naruto and that has an actual premise and quality principles in it then yes..I'll give it a shot. But both one piece and bleach are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY over hyped.
