i think you can, simply by letting to other souls use the reaper jutsu and just both letting the reaper seal itself or something or use the reaper it's own hand to get in his belly...

He most likely knew about the 3rd Hokage, through Zetsu gathering info for him. And learned about the 4th Hokage through Obito, and intel from Zetsu. Just my assumptions.
