I don't want to overtype so ill try to keep it short.
I believe that sora was born on sorajima (island kaido jumped off of). I believe sora invented the original skywalk and that's how he was able to travel between the sea and sorajima. I believe that the vinsmoke family will be shocked to see sanji doing skywalking moves for 2 reasons. 1st. It appears that reiju and yonji have some equipment thats aiding their manuverability so seeing sanji float on his own will shock them and 2nd sora is the vinsmoke familys rival from their battles back in the day and a fellow vinsmoke will now be using the same skywalking abilitys as sora.

Also, sengoku may have been inspired by sora or may be sora himself. Sengoku and sora each wore hats with seagulls on them so theirs some connection

I also think Sengoku is sora or Sora's student, if the myth turns out to be based on a true story then it happened after Brook was born (less than 100+ years ago).

They might not be shocked with Skywalk, Vice admiral ranked Marines can use the Rokushiki so it's something rather common

The comic definitely has some truth to it because the two Vinsmokes in the panel are obviously Sanjis older brothers.

But if that's true then why is Vito talking as if the comic has been going on since he was a kid and stuff?

Perhaps there have been multiple Soras and a rivalry between the two would continue generation to generation.

Sora seems like a mix of Sengoku and Aokiji. It was said he could walk on water. Aokiji can do that and Sengoku has the whole seagull thing going on.
