I made this signature with Gimp and I was wondering how I could erase the white background and keep the image itself? Thanks

Does the original stock image have a white background?

If so the only way to get rid of it is to use the eraser tool and get rid of the white background, then save it as a .png

Oh when you make a new project the background is white? There should be an option to make the background transparent.

I'm not sure though I use Photoshop, not GIMP
I'm more familiar with photoshop however I don't own the program. I never used GIMP before...

Wait I see something called transparency and it says color to alpha ?

He means his avatar, well when you go to make a new document like "File : New" And the pop up shows, and it says, background contents, make it transparent, not Background color or white, but Transparent. Then just paste the image, erase the white that you are having trouble with and save as PNG. Then you should be fine.
