Side character role neglect is not a weakness of part 2

Are side characters having an important role?

I'd like to address something that people constantly complain about, and quite frankly, it's annoying me. Kishimoto is not neglecting the role of side characters contrary to popular belief. "But why are you saying that when characters clearly aren't getting screen time?" Here's why. The side characters are very involved, but the role of being important to the story goes in shifts. The side characters that are important change through the story. Let's take the War through Juubi arc for an example, which people constantly bash for reasons that I have no clue about.

1. Kakashi took the lead.

2. Another time, Dauri was the main focus.

3. Then it was Ino-Shika-Cho.

4. Then Naruto came in, which people will say ruined any chance of side character roles, but that's not the case. Bee got his time.

5. Then it was Garra and Onoiki.

Do I really need to explain how big a part they had in the kage fights and Madara fight?

6. Kakashi, Guy, and Bee had a huge part in the edo jinchuriki fight as well as the Obito fight, where each one had huge involvement.

7. Sasuke and Itachi had their moment.

Then the 5 Kage took the lead.

You must be registered for see images

8. Then the K11 took a huge part when Naruto shared his chakra.

You must be registered for see images

9. Since the edo hokages arrived, the focus of side characters has been on them and Sasuke and yet again huge role.

You must be registered for see images

So basically, the idea that side characters not having a role in the manga is utterly false. Most of the people who complain about this probably go into these categories.

1. Trolls, or haters just not liking the manga in general and finding anything to hold against it.

2. People stuck in the past of part 1 where virtually all the support characters were from K11.

3. People wanting their fave to get the main focus and raging because their fave isn't getting it at the moment. In other words, they might not mean this, but what they're really saying is "I don't care about the other side characters that people love getting screen time, I want my fave to get it instead, and the manga's trash if I'm not getting it!"

To anybody who doesn't feel this way, this isn't an attack on you. Anyway, this is something I wanted to address since people make such a big deal out of it.

Well Sasuke and Kakashi are main characters.

Secondly, the K11 existed as the primary supporting characters... Like you said with part I they were there, and we're constantly being revolved around starting the chunin exams. The fact that they literally all disappeared except for mostly Ino-Shika-Cho is a problem.

Especially after Kishi's initial and focused development.

Lee and Hinata helped represent the themes of underdogs and hard work.. but come part II they don't exist for most of it, and have hardly shown any improvement or vastly acknowledgeable rewards despite their work.

Yes we had moments where we had Darui, the Kage Rangers, and others taking roles, but the fact that primary supporting characters were all but abandoned it something Kishimoto should have improved IMO.

I mean if you see the final chapter, you have all of the K11 talking about how they want to improve and how they will get stronger and keep up with Narhto.... And we see virtually nothing of their work.

That is my view on it. Yes, side characters do have moments, but many of the ones that seemingly had major support roles or contributed to themes got left behind which hurt the themes.

Not to mention changes with Naruto himself hurt once established themes. Look at Neji's destiny theme... Got ruined. Naruto says you make it yourself, but then he's a child of prophecy and Neji ended up dying the way he figures he would (albeit he made the choice).

Yeah, you should also add this, Naruto X Man xp

It were the most boring chapters I have ever read...

Kabuto is a villain, not a support character.

Kakashi isn't a main character, just a side character with a lot of constant focus. I can see a little of what you're saying about K11, but let's be honest, characters like Neji become boring after Naruto changed him.

You're just saying this because you hate me and stalk my threads. You have to be a true fanboy to say Sasuke's neglected. He has been extremely important to the manga. It's just that current chapters make him not of use at the moment, which can be changed in an instant.(I've made theories) The only main characters are Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura. Saying that most of my list are main characters is like saying all important side characters with a lot of screen time automatically become main characters.

How is Kakashi not a main character?! Been around since the start, leader of the main character's team. Leads up the first part II mission, gone for a little while, because of injury, but is almost immediately back next arc to train Naruto's Wind style. Heads up team Asuma, heads up the Sasuke retrieval, key to discovering Deva path's weakness, heads a war division, goes to rescue Naruto with Gai,
Main antagonist is his old best friend.

If you're telling me side character Kakadhi has been made more relavent than main character Sakura I'd have to disagree.

Check even his wiki page says he's a main.

As far as the Neji thing... That's liable to opinion. Being able to see his change and the power he gains from it is just as interesting to see how he originally was. This is the idea of characters growing and developing.... Which Kishimoto never gave us a good enough measure of for most of the K11 aside from the Ino-Shika-Cho team...

I stand corrected about Kakashi. I think a lot of the disappointment about K11 came from false assumptions though. Naruto himself was given no development during the time skip, so why should K11?

Part I simply had a lot less characters. They got more time in proportion. In Part II there are countless characters. Just how long would the manga be if they all got more screentime? I think that some characters do/did deserve to be more prominent in Part II (like Neji and Lee), but well.

If you mean neglect means not being above Naruto, then you're right, he's neglected, but that doesn't count as neglect.

Another reason why i thing Naruto's character offically castrates others' development. (Yes; others' development matter to some people; not just the ones' with the holy title of main character) Any character he magically changes become either fanboys and/or followers who follow their Jesus (aka: Naruto).

OT: When Neji died manga got a pairing development over it. Not a small tribute to Neji, not character development for his teammates. Considering the situation on Neji's character; that was inconvenient and out of place. Or is it sign of butthurt to think that his teammates should have gotten more than 1/10 of a page after he died atleast for giving reaction? No name fodder 2639 & 2738 got a bigger panel than Team Gai isn't this neglecting or what?

People can think what they want about the manga; and Naruto might be the main character but no one has to like him as their fave. There is nothing wrong with expecting to see more from other characters.

Team 9 not reacting was a disappointment, but here's what I'm saying. It's not wrong to want more of a side character, but it's wrong to rage about that one character calling the entire manga garbage because of character neglect while others are getting that screentime.

All the side characters sound so neglected because there's just so many of them.

The Chunin Exams in Part I were full of 1 vs 1 battles, so Kishi could focus on one character for a chapter or two without interruptions from other characters.

Even the Invasion of Konoha gave a bit of time for the adults to shine, like Kakashi & Guy and the Ino-Shika-Cho parents
