I'm pretty sure it's not. He's talking about the Kabuto that fought Itachi and Sasuke, except Sage Mode is restricted as well as Edo Tensei. I'm also going to assume Itachi doesn't have the crow with Shisui's eye, and that izanami is restricted.

OT: Kabuto wins high difficulty. Since he has intel on tsukuyomi, he won't look in Itachi's eyes. If he gets caught in one of Itachi's other genjutsus, the snake attached to his chest could break him out. Amaterasu is countered by oral rebirth or by melting off the affected area through liquidation. Fireballs tanked with liquidation and healing. Susanoo could possibly become entangled in spiderwebs. Jirobo's earth jutsus can bypass Susanoo because they come from underground, as well as Kimi's bones. If Kabuto gets Tayuya to use her genjutsu it's gg.

I don't think that's what the OP meant though, since if it were it would be an ungodly stomp in Itachi's favour.

The genjutsu already canonically immobilized both Itachi and Sasuke. They broke out because the two of them simultaneously cast genjutsu on each other, overriding Tayuya''s genjutsu.

The genjutsu already canonically immobilized both Itachi and Sasuke. They broke out because the two of them simultaneously cast genjutsu on each other, overriding Tayuya''s genjutsu.

Taking the easy route out of a Genjutsu doesn't mean Itachi doesn't have the capability to take other routes out of it as well. There are multiple ways to leave a Genjutsu, especially for someone as skilled in Genjutsu as Itachi. They were only immobilized because Itachi had zero killing intent. Over half of that entire battle was Itachi sympathizing for Kabuto. Besides, when he was immobilized he really didn't seem too worried at all.

beansandcornbread2 pretty much covered it, although disagreeing with one minor thing. Which is Tayuya Genjutsu working here. It will not be powered up by Sage Mode, so I am pretty sure Itachi can break it.
