The Japanese are abuzz over the arrest of “Rurouni Kenshin” creator Nobuhiro Watsuki on the charge of possessing child pornography.

According to a report by Yomiuri Shimbun via Kotaku, investigators discovered DVDs featuring nude girls aged below 15 years old at Watsuki’s Tokyo office and in his home.

Authorities came to search Watsuki due to suspicions that he purchases illicit DVDs; these suspicions surfaced during a separate child pornography case.

Watsuki reportedly told authorities, “I liked girls from the upper grades of elementary school to around the second year of junior high school.”
This isn't the first case either. Toriko creator got in trouble for paying a 16 year old girl to have *** with him too.

Shit is disgusting. Anyway this is the same publisher who represents Naruto

Inb4 Ikemoto.... :lol

I kid

Ikemoto getting caught would spawn the most hilarious roast of 2017/18

Memes and shit. Hopefully SJ takes this account to what is being drawn too.

Japan is just weird. That lolicon shit breeds pedophiles. I mean that's cartoons for them too. Smh

Hopefully ikemoto gets caught and Kishimoto comes back. It would explain ikemoto's fetish with little girls wearing short skirts and high heels.

Nobuhiro Watsuki (author of Kenshin) was arrested

News just in, Nobuhiro Watsuki (author of Kenshin) was arrested

Edit: Here's an anime news network article

Either way, Nobuhiro Watsuki's career is most likely done and Kenshin will probably won't be praised as much. We will see if the brand is ruined.

Re: Nobuhiro Watsuki (author of Kenshin) was arrested

The thing is the series has already been well established, most of its sales and popularity already did it's time. It's this new sequel he was working on which gets really affected by this.

..*Removes the series from MyAnimeList data*...
..*Cancels buying Kenshin manga*...
..*Forgets Rurouni Kenshin ever exist*...
..*Never recommend it to anime watchers*...

I get where you're coming from but a similar event happened with Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro (author of Toriko), where his big hit series, Seikimatsu Leader Den Takeshi!, was cancelled because of him violating CP prostitution laws. Even now Takeshi's brand was ruined because of the case, although Takeshi never had an anime unlike Kenshin. He was able to write an ending for the series in Super Jump magazine but that was after the scandal.

Takeshi was serialized an issue before One Piece was competing with OP, along with HxH, in fact all three series were the pillars of WSJ at the time. It was big but definitely no where near as big as Kenshin. Also, Watsuki's case is worse than Shima's case since at least from what I remember Shima was using a dating site and it's possible that he didn't know her age, plus she was 16 but Watsuki allegedly said he has preference for girls in late elementary school.

I noticed on twitter, japanese are bringing up the case of Shima so I don't really know how it'll go from here. My prediction is that the brand of Kenshin in general is "ruined", it will still be remembered as big a success since that can't be taken away but what I meant is that it won't be mentioned as much when people think of their fav./big shonen jump titles. You probably won't see much of it when it comes to Jump events either.

Edit: I wonder how Oda is taking this since Watsuki was his mentor. He may reconsider having homages to Kenshin in the Wano arc now.

Ikemoto should take this as an example and stop his sexualization of characters
He's not really sexualizing anyone to be honest. He doesn't reveal anything on his kunoichi and the mere sight of legs and heels alone isn't really sexual.

You wanna see sexualization? Read Fairy Tail.

I do however agree that Sarada's outfit isn't the best for a ninja.

Are you implying Rurouni Kenshin's creator Watsuki 'is' the same 'publisher' " who represents Naruto" - that sentence makes little sense either way.

Well yea Ikemoto's style is rather questionable but it's an issue with several mangas coming from Japan on regular basis. Don't use it as an opportunity to bash on a different writer who had little to do with the incident in this news. If anything Rurouni Kenshin doesn't have this issue and yet it's writer was the one who was found with those DVDs with child pornography, instead of the lolicon/shotacon artists out there.

I remember that clearly lol, all these people close to Oda getting bagged. First his buddy and now his mentor.

I agree with you there.

Btw delete the thread I made about this since I didn't even see this thread for some reason.

In FT's defense...aren't majority of the characters 18+, especially with those big timeskips?

It only really got uncomfortable with characters like Wendy.
