The night was silent, peaceful if any real noise was distinguished it would be quiet hoots of owls or maybe the sound of frogs leaping through the grass. Anyone who stayed up at this hour was either at work, had things to do or just a hopeless drunk. Treston was none of them. He sat in the living room his eyes opened staring through the window from inside. He must of been sitting in the same spot for hours. The same thoughts would rush through his brain. The events that played ten years ago played over and over in his head like a record player. The song kept playing repeatedly and it never stopped. For the first time in a good while Treston showed an effort to move. His head turned to the digital clock that sat on the table. It was Three O clock. Bag under his eyes, no life was held in his irises it was if he was going to die or had nothing left to live for but that wasn't the case. He was just controlled by fear all his life that he got tired of it. When that horrible feeling came back the young male had no idea what to do. And with all that he's been up for way too long. The ironic part was that Treston liked sleeping. The events of his past now came to haunt him.
Treston rolled over, kicking blankets off of him. He read the time on the clock that sat on the night table. It was One Thirty PM. He slept for a good ten ours. He squinted in disbelief and rolled back into bed. His right hand now over his face covering his eyes from the gleaming sun attacking the window with such energy. It took time ten minutes at most for Treston to roll out of bed and into the bathroom. No sign of Alice anywhere, the brown haired girl was probably purchasing books and food. Never forgot to read but never in a million years forgot to care for Treston. He found that annoying about her that she'd never just leave him be. But he also felt good that he was worth it.
The black haired boy jumped in the shower before stripping off his clothes all thrown sloppy on the floor. The warm water rained down on Treston's head making his damp hair wet covering his eyes. He closed his eyes for a considerable amount of time. The water kept him steady and calm. The rhythm of the water hitting his skin soothed him. He spent the remainder of time in the shower cleansing himself. He hopped out of the shower with the towel wrapped around him.
After drying himself he began to dress himself. Black v - neck, dark blue jeans with a chain going from his belt to his bottom pocket that held his wallet. Black shoes that were tied accordingly. The attire that he wore brought out his fragile ; lean look. His air was still damp, with a strong shake like a dog finishing his bath his hair became relatively dry. The images were forced into his mind. He couldn't get out if his head. And he felt his psyche was becoming weaker. He clenched his fist and vane began to grow on his forehead, he couldn't take it anymore.
Suddenly he heard keys rattle and an opening of a door. He checked to see who it was. In came Alice.
"Catch" A warm smile appeared on her face as she threw Treston a candy bar.
"Butter finger. Nice."
"Yup. Your favorite!"
She proceeded and placed a bag on the counter.
"Looks heavy".
"Yeah. Had to get some shit from my house." Treston giggled as he heard the curse word escape those innocent lips.
"Alice". Treston shot her a surprised look with a taunting smile.
"Shut it. Long morning."
"I see." His pleased look dimmed down and his true emotions became to show little by little no matter how much he tired to hide it. Treston sat down on a stool not showing his face to Alice. A frown came upon the brown haired woman's face her hand on her hips.
"I'm going to show you something. "Come on you sloth."
"Fine."
No cars, no ruckus just birds chirping and the sound of trees rustling as the wind peacefully flew threw the air. One of the best thing about this town the nature calmed you down. Treston's hands in his pocket as he walked casually beside Alice. The gaze at the sky almost never faded from Treston the only time when he looked away way was to see where they were going. Alice was also embracing the wonderful aura that this place gave off. Treston let out a sigh, a sigh of relief the feeling where as of right now things seemed to dim down in his mind. He was going to ask her once again why was he brought out here but that didn't matter at the moment. He was at peace with himself with the things around him. It concealed all that bad things that would leak out.
"Calmed down?" Alice's voice broke the silence. A chuckle escaped from Treston's lips.
"Ali, you know me so well."
"Of course, we've been friends for how long now?"
They both chimed Alice a little late. "Ten Years."
The two close friends gave in to laughter. They're cheeks both pink a sign of the frustration they both had leaving their troubled aura for who knows how long.
"Hey." Alice catching Treston's attention "We hanged out in a place similar to this?"
"Similar. I'll take a wild guess and say this is the same damn forest. Don't tell me you're taking me too.-"
"Hush. You'll find out when we get there. "
Come on Tres." Alice raised her hand in a hand gesture urging him to move this way. Treston sped walk almost running beside Alice. Smiles across their faces as they made it to their destination.
"Holy Shit." Treston's smile quickly turned to a grin.
"It still stands"
What was seen before their eyes was something special. A place that they held dear. A cute little area with rich green grass on the side and rocky rubble that made a pathway to a small cabin. It had an old folk, country vibe to it. But it remained with a mysterious forest presence
"This is.. Our Cabin."
"Mhm. What did you call it?" Alice looked at Treston with a teasing face.
"Our Sacred Sanctuary."
Alice shook the keys in front of Treston's face as she scurried off to the door. Treston admired the still elegant Cabin. The green eyed boy closed the door behind him. He discovered every crack and corner of the cabin the nostalgia blatantly filling the air. The wooded castle.
"Alice. We used to hang out here all the time." She nodded as the Alice took of her jacket.
"Remember. We sneaked out of our houses just to come here. We were so reckless."
"We still are."
"Maybe we just didn't give a shit."
"Maybe."
Treston ran into the major bedroom and leaped into the queen sized bed. His body sunk into the mattress, Alice doing the same.
"This is clean. Real clean.." His skepticism getting the best of him.
"It's because I cleaned while you were asleep idiot."
"Ah."
The care that Alice had for Treston was obvious. Treston stared at the ceiling his face had the expression of happiness. He was still so innocent despite all the things that happened a decade from now which seemed it only happened yesterday.
"We told all our secrets here no matter how big. We would come here and vent out. Whether it was teachers, parents or the world. Our own little clubhouse where our secrets remained safe." Treston closed his eyes."
"Yeah." Treston's smirked remained on his face.
"Remember that time when I forced you in here and I really let you in on my mid life crisis."
"Shit. I do remember. You were not really likable in those times. Probably on your period." A soft giggle immersed from the both of them.
"I went on and on about how much of a ***** Christine Pinkman was. How much I wanted to deck in her sorry face."
"I think you said I want to punch that fat in considerate ***** in the face."
He turned over to Alice fully engaged in the conversation.
"But your sarcastic tone never ceased to stop.
"Isn't that what you love about me?"
She playfully punched Treston in the shoulder. "You're a ****."
Treston fell on his back and laughed holding rubbing his shoulder. Alice covered her face as she to let out a hysteria chuckle. The enjoyment went on for quite some time but it soon died off. It was just Treston and Alice sitting on a bed in silence.
"Hey Tres. You can tell me anything, you know that right?"
Treston head rolled over grasping her attention.
"I mean this is a place to let out all our secrets. To vent out."
"Alice I'd never lie to you".
"Treston there is a difference from telling the truth and just saying half of it."
"It's still the truth."
Alice sat up from her comfortable position looking down on Treston with a concerned face.
"I'm not going to say I know how you feel because I don't. You haven't been telling me the truth. Just half of it."
"Tch." Treston looked away trying to avoid eye contact.
"Tres."
Her calm and sincere voice attracted his attention. He couldn't ignore Alice. Not her. He sat up now facing Alice. His nervous green irises meeting her deep sea blue eyes behind her glasses. "Do you trust me?" He looked down before setting his eyes to her again.
"Yeah.."
"Then tell me what happened ten years ago, the whole truth." Treston kept his gaze in silence. But her voice became more fragile and concerned.
"Please."
