Well heres the thing, all my life people around me have told me to do that which makes me happy. If the type of life makes me happy then I should keep at it. Though I want to raise up the question of why. Why is that everyone wants to be happy for whatever they do in life? Noone thinks that this is kind of crazy if you think about it. I mean its like if we were striving to be mad all the time. Its just one emotion from the variety that we experience but why are we so hung up on being happy?

You can be miserable all your life if you want but Im happy trying to be happy.
Its the most positive emotion its only natural that anything that experiences these feelings would aim towards the positive over the negative.
Unless they were evil.

Gettin all deep lmao

No but really I think we should strive for happiness. True happiness that is.

Most things that we think will make us happy wither away, it's a fleeting thing. It comes and goes, things that make you happy now eventually won't and you'll look for something else to fill the void. Finding something that can make you truly happy deep within your being is worth striving for. Something that will leave you content and wanting nothing more from life.

That's what we should strive for, whatever that may be.

Finding the balance is key.
I ask myself that question everyday. I pursue a degree not out of the need for money but
for the love of learning something I want and enjoy doing. But how far does that really take you?
Sure Im great at what I do but compared to my peers I have much less.

I spent the years Everyone else did partying studying. While Everyone else was working full time I
was in class.

Looking at everything now my friends who joined the Military, went for some degree in "Miserable" all are
doing better than I. Makes me think was going to college for a degree in something that makes me happy worth it?
Was pursing happiness over money really the correct way? Those are years of my life I can't get back and there is no guarantee the future ones will be better. If I could go back I would tell myself to enjoy things while I could.

I would tell myself to learn things much earlier back in elementary and high school so I don't have to worry about them now.
And Honestly I think that's why college has become such a waste. We should be pursing these things much earlier instead of relying on college to learn them. if we did that we would have better insight, more free time and of course maybe even NO need for college.

Dont you think your seeing your life through only one scope and limiting yourself from everything else
All kinds of emotions exist throughout our lives, but happiness is the one we want to maintain. You could live a life of happiness but it doesn't mean that at certain points in your life you have encountered grieve, anger, lust, hatred, those are just emotions that shouldn't be the target of our lives, with happiness being the major road.

Well this is what my thread targets, who ever said that happiness should be our main road? Why do we need to maintain this feeling above all else?

The Lord wants us to enjoy life as He intended, if you can learn to be thankful for the things that are good in life you will always be content. Jesus promises us, we will have storms in our lives. The trick is to be thankful during those times for what you have that is good, and to trust in Him, He is with you always.

David was our model on how to be a man, he was full of all emotions (sometimes in the same sentence if you read psalms). A warrior, king, poet, musician, worshiper of the Lord. He was often Angry or depressed but he never lost sight that the Lord favored him, so he had peace even during the storms that came over him.

Happiness in this context should be taken to mean the range of good emotions you get by achieving the realization of whatever you want to do or be. Nothing crazy about that =D
