Should there have been less spotlight on Ino-Shika-Cho? Team Gai and Kurenai?

Do you think Kishi spends too much time on developing them instead of the rest of the Konoha 11? Ever since Asuma died, they've really matured. But IMO Kishi didn't do a good job with Team Gai (especially) and Team Kurenai. Lee, Neji and Tenten all lost importance very quickly after the first arc of Shippuden, not really playing a role at all. Same goes for Team Kurenai. Hinata aside, Kiba and Shino haven't really gotten much development as the series has progressed. But at least we got an insight of what their friendship was like.

But with Lee and Neji, we never saw them as rivals at all unti Kishi showed it in Neji's flashback in his death, which bothers me about his death. Another thing is that Naruto and Hinata had more of a reaction to Neji's death than Team Gai did themselves. Sure Naruto changed Neji's way of thinking but they had little interaction through the whole of Shippuden. Lee's reaction looked more comical than anything, Tenten only seemed to care about Lee and I can't even remember Gai having a reaction which is an insult.

Pretty annoying, really. A bunch of characters don't matter and are basically just piled up as steps for team 7 to walk on. Compared to them, everyone needs character development. The other teams are basically irrelevant.

Ino-Shika-Chou hogged the paneltime. Literally. They got countless battles while others got...nothing.
When their fathers died; they immedeatly got reaction-face panels while team Gai took a tiny panel in 615 just to give Naruhina teases more room. Sorry but that is a terrible writing. It does not even have an excuese.

Then Ino-Shika took pages of flashbacks and conversations. Whole Team Gai reaction including Lee's flashbacks took like 2 pages. Neji was more important than Inoichi and Shikaku. Why would this even happen?

Right now; other Team Gai members are not even seen. Why? Even random fodders got paneltime and lines.

Disagree with one thing though. I don't think Lee's reaction was comedic. It was much more realistic and humane than Hinata starting sucking up to N-n-naruto-kun right after Neji died. Atleast he closed Neji's eyes for respect while Hinata was orgasming to Naruto's hand.

No. Every single one of them are interesting as f*ck. If anything they need more coverage as they're miles more interesting and mature than Team 7's drama breakups, they have real problems and real development.

It's a shame about Team Guy not being as prominent as they're by far my favourite team but come on, you can feature one team more without destroying another. All Kishimoto needed to do was give Team Guy the same treatment. Their own arc where they grow or learn something from the arc as well, something that follows them til the end of the series like Shikamaru, Chouji & Ino.

No...instead of shortening their development he should have added places to display the others... For example maybe have Team Gai's opponents randomized during the seal removal...making it end up with Lee vs Neji to display their rivalry....Tenten and Gai getting themselves through chance.

More arcs should have been made, or done differently. Instead of lining up Akatsuki in a picking off order (show up and die)...make them operate in the background like they did.


During the war have some notable enemies show up that Neji, Hinata, Kiba, and Shino had to face. Why not have Neji fight his father?

They could have been made an arc involving the entirety of the K11 in a joint mission.


Neji's death was mostly rushed which gave a bad look for team Gai (ESPECISLLY TENTEN.).


Instead of killing good development...make more good development.

Kishi plays favourites. This has been confirmed a while back.

I swear he sucks Shikamaru's **** too much. Any chance he can he puts him in the spotlight. He can't take it too far because of Shikamaru's limited moveset (which I'm sure Kishimoto regrets) but out of all the rookies he's created, Shikmaru is just wanked on a another level.

It's not even ino-shika-chou. It's just shika. Sucks really because back in part 1 both neji and lee were more popular characters :/

edit: Just thought I'd add, I'm not hating on Shikamaru. Awesome dude, just strange that he gets so much attention from Kishi :|

Hinata was crying, but remember Naruto was the one holding him... so really eye closing is Naruto's job there. Also , the part where she gives her speech is good... Naruto was done and out. She brought their best player back into the game. As shinobi they have to carry on and endure pain.

2. Naruto says let's go and proceeds to ditch her. She stays there and he goes and plays alliance tag.

No, I think it was fine. Shouldn't worry about taking spotlight away from Team 10, should worry about getting more spotlight for Team 8 and Team Gai. Its mind boggling how little attention every other character got outside of Naruto during Shippuden.

I don't think Hinata's long speech was a part of good writing. Team Gai still was not there. They just should have been there; or atleast react decently. Would they block the speech? No. That chapter was just a tease for pairing fans; and i just don't care about pairings right after a character dies. Neji was still out of focus. 615 was my least favorite chapter by a long mile; just because the pathetic excuese of a ditching a character for a matter of tease.

Hinata... Maybe becasue i am his fan; but Lee gave the most reasonable reaction... I mean the hand comment was the final drop for a terrible chapter for me. Hinata cried and all; but maybe if Team Gai rushed there when hinata is giving a speech and gave their respect while "the matter of tease" took less paneltime; it would look decent. Then again; Neji's death was forced anyways.

So true it looked wrong. I was really disappointed how his death was just used as a device to set up pairing wars.

No, there shouldn't be. The story is at its climax. It should, therefore, conclude the character development it has already started. There should be no sudden characterization of supporting characters. It is way too late for that now.

My point was that the speech itself was good, but yes I agree Team Gai should have moved up there or something. Lee without a doubt gave the best reaction. I honestly expected that to be Hinata's reaction, but instead she managed to stay focused despite losing composure for a time.


And even if Kishi had decided not to bring Team Gai up that chapter... The following one with Lee crying out should have given the entire team a final goodbye and then a wall of searing anger/emotion as they attacked the enemy. At least Lee showed it by bisecting Madara.

My only hope is that in the upcoming chapters we will see Gai make a comment about his precious students before unleashing utter badassery.


And I'll say it again, the big strong hand comment was god awful...probably in the top 10 worst lines or at least moments to say such a line.....
