I think the sound village (ruled by Sasuke maybe?) and the church of Jashin would have been awesome antagonists alongside the Akatsuki.
Imagine if the war was Akatsuki + Sound + Jashin church vs Allied Shinobi Forces. It would have been 10 times better, I hate the white Zetsu clones. The rookies should have to go through the act of killing other people for the greater good, it would have made some great character development and made it feel more like a real war.
