Should they? Yes, definitely.

But will they? No. Only Sasuke, Obito, Kakashi, Yamato, the elders themselves, and Naruto know the truth.

Obito is going to die, so he's not telling anyone else.

Naruto promised to Itachi that he wouldn't tell anyone, considering that it would disgrace the Uchiha clan name because it would be known that they wanted to betray the village and overthrow Hiruzen. They would be known as traitors. Kakashi and Yamato will not tell the truth either if Naruto won't.

The only one who might inform the public about the truth behind the massacre is Sasuke, but I doubt he will considering that he knows that Itachi wanted it to remain a secret and he is slightly more respectful towards Itachi's wishes as of now.

Imo, the truth shouldn't be made public about the Uchiha and their coup, but if possible the elders should still be punished. It just shouldn't be a public affair and kept private for the most part.

Well, it's not like it would help the Uchiha clan's reputation at all if the truth were to come out anyway. It would just make it worse and confirm Konoha's suspicions about them. Now, they look like an honorable clan who were all just victims. If the truth is revealed, then they just look like a power-hungry clan of traitors who attempted to overthrow the most beloved hokage and were stopped.

There is a reason that even after learning the truth, people like Yamato, Kakashi, and Naruto haven't even thought about the elders. Only Sasuke has. Upon knowing the truth, people in Konoha would most likely favor the elders even more, considering that what they did benefitted them. Though, understandably, Sasuke will never because his life was taken away from him due to that.

But either way, it's not like they will hold their positions much longer. If Naruto or Sasuke become hokage, they are going to appoint their own advisors.

There was no evidence to indite the Uchiha clan of any wrong doing in connection to the kyuubi attack. It was all conjecture and Danzo continuously fanned the flames of suspicion of the Uchiha.

To make a real world comparion: It's similar to the US internment of Japanese-Americans after the Pearl Harbor attack, and the US's heightened scrutiny of Arabs and muslim americans after 9/11 attacks. There was no established link between these respective groups in America and the architects who planned the attacks on the US from overseas.

What happened to the Uchiha clan was wrong and the orchestrators of the massacre should be held accountable for their decisions.
