In my opinion, yes. But here are the facts.

According to popular public opinion(Civilians and Military personnel alike), Sgt. Bergdahl deserted his post to either join the Taliban or escape the army in general.

According to Bergdahl, he was trying to hide out in the town nearest their outpost and force a ' ' to expose the bad leadership of the US Army. He explains that he would have gone to his superior but they simply would not have taken a low rank like him seriously(Can't knock him there).

I'm currently listening to Serial so I can further understand the facts of it. Anyway, what do you think? Do you believe his story or do you believe the story that he simply abandoned his post to escape hardships in the army/his outpost? Was the trade a good trade? Should he have been brought back at all?

Let me know... :flakez:

He shouldn't have been exchanged.

I thought America didn't negotiate with terrorists.

Furthermore, did Obama really think it was a good idea to trade five militants for one deserter?

Honestly? America should've just let them keep him.

As far as bad leadership he took an oath and when he left not only did he put his comrades in much more danger by leaving them he betrayed his oath to his comrades he knew what he was signing up for in my opinion we shouldnt have traded 5 militants but we also couldnt leave him out there even low in the pole guys like him hold info but in the end he has to answer for it

No, but he is still American. A bad American, but still American nonetheless and should be treated accordingly
Treated accordingly? It use to be law that if you deserted you would be sentence to death.

Now with Obama, he get's traded for five militants and maybe we'll face some jail time.

Ah, the sweet sound of America.

To be fair, most people don't really know what they are signing up for, not until they faced true fear

Ah, the sweet sound of America.

As if Obama was the one who changed that rule. A soldier hasn't been executed for desertion since the 40's.

Back when i tried to join i knew exactly what i was getting into i was going to go through hell and possibly might not have come back and i knew ungrateful SOBs would be calling me a murderer but i accepted that because it is not a calling but a duty to ones country those who have a romantic ideal that they would be a hero much less a super soldier or adventuring are just plan stupid pure and simple and are a liability to others and themselves there are no heros in war you do what you can to end the killing as quickly as possible and do what ever you can to make sure that the SOB on the opposite side dies for his country
