After this war, Sasuke won't receive the death-penalty because he's been helping out but he shouldn't be accepted into the Village. And even if he was, the people of not only the leaf but the world will always carry a grudge towards the ex-international criminal. Even if he was allowed to live in the leaf, the people would Shunn him far more then Naruto ever was. Remember, he did attack the Kages, to the people of the five villages, the five great leaders, he's just a criminal to the people regardless of what he does now.

After this whole Hokage thing, I hope Sasuke decides to stand-down and let Naruto have the title and start a new life, away from the Villiage, away from all that. All that remains for him in that Village is pain.

If those Orochimaru prisoners spread the word of Sasuke's greatness, then maybe it could be his job to keep the minor villages and clans at peace. They weren't incorporated into the Shinobi Alliance... so I guess you can say they are even more left out than before. Although I assume that will change after the war.
