I don't think so. Religion is a setting of ideas and traditions shared by a certain ammount of people. They become groups. But these groups shouldn't have a "bigger word" than the rest of the population, specially considering that there a lot of people from those groups(not a majority, though) that are fanitics, which is harmful. The leaders should be unbiased, trying to find what benefits all groups(religious or not).

Don't missunderstand me, there are fanatics everywhere. Including what seems to be called "militant atheists". Fanaticism is always bad for society.

Also, in no way your personal opinion "I don't like religions" has a say in this. This opinion alone, any opinion alone can't be taken as a poiny/argument to discredit or accept some idea.

No, it shouldn't. The idea of such is silly especially in the US where there r so many different religions. The political leaders should be unbiased. Religion has no place with politics. Especially since nations violate their own religious morals.

Yes it shouldnt. Anyway are religions still expanding or is it the other way around? I don't see a lot of faithful students.

I agree that it should not influence politics, that being said, people should still have religous freedom and if a politician prays or goes to church in his free time then that should be ok.
But when it comes to the actual politics that thats what matters and thats what should be taken into consideration. You dont have to mix everything.

What I mean is basicly if perhaps you dont feel strongly about high death penalties because of your own interpretation from the bible mixed in with some moral dilemmas then thats ofcourse ok, but within the context of politics it should be treated as such you should not use the bible as an excuse.

Bold- There's much more to it than simply "religion and government together". You're ignoring some facts such as most governments arround that time were similar to dictatorships, and that it was a time with constant fights over land and gold. Considering that the said religon was in power, it was doing everything it could to remain in power. And that is how the inquisition started.

Technically it does but to a certain extent. Politics is hugely based behind morals, and most likely the morals of religious people influence politics. However I don't think politics should be altered to where whatever religion is more advantageous over another, I think that type of favoritism sparks issues. Just my thoughts.

Religion and politics are a bad mix. Imagine that there were Islamic laws in all countries. It would lead to stupid laws like blasphemy laws and adultery laws. Innocent people would get killed. Religion needs to stay out of politics and government. What we need are neutral and unbiased leaders.
