Okay so like the title says I'm not a vegetarian. But really the only meat I eat comes from pig, cow and chicken. I think. I live in America and don't go to any restaurants with like Indian food or stuff. The reason I'm asking this is because I'm reading this book about activism and the first issue it brings up is animal rights. Not just for wild animals but house pets. I have a cat. It also says many house pets are neglected abandoned mistreated and sometimes even murdered. It talks about the discrimination against vegetarians (WTF people?) how their classmates will try to force them to eat meat or how their school cafeteria won't include a freaking salad bar and instead force their stupid who-knows-where-it-came-from "meat" on them and stuff. I also don't like how the species of wild animals are decreasing because of hunting activities or loss of wildlife. So I'm not a vegetarian. My mom says I've got something called iron deficiency or anemia or some such.. I need iron or I'm really tired and/or cranky. Can I still fight for animal rights?

You or anyone else can fight whatever you're/they're passionate for.

You said it yourself: animal rights doesn't have to do with wild animals. If you want to protect your cat and owners of other cats, then go for it.

This.

You don't have to be a be a vegetarian to fight for animal rights any more than you have to be gay to support Homosexual rights. If you believe in something, fight for it with all you have.

Life with no regrets, and lots of meaning. :win:

I don't think killing the cows, chickens, and pigs will stop, low chance of that happening.
The pet abusing/murdering and abandoning should stop.

There's always a slim chance of a lot of things stopping in this worldU_U

If you fight for animal rights while eating animal meat that sort of doesn't make sense to me personally…
But supporting the abuse and neglecting is always great imo.

Yes, I want my humans treated humanely before they are turned into soilent green. If you don't treat them right the flavor never is right

Hunting actually keeps many species from mass starvation. Every year in Michigan up to 25% of the deer population slowly starve to death as they do not have enough food to last them through the winter. If you hunt then you can keep them from mass starvation, which is just cruel.... In the wild predators hunt prey but they do not kill too many of them. If they kill too many the predators will starve, but if they don't hunt enough the prey will starve from over-population.

Also beware of animal activist books... many writers are extremists.

Lol, interesting view on it. I say let people do whatever they feel (unless it's really out there).

Everyone should have respect for animals. And when it does come time for slaughter, the animals should be killed in the most humane way possible.

Yes, why shouldn't they? A person can fight for whatever they believe in.

I say they do whatever they want, if they decide to form something then they can gather others who feel the same. This sort of action doesnt call for just vegetarians, its anyone who feels the same. but i know what your coming from with this.

If the hypocrisy of man was used as a means to dismiss a course of action, there would hardly be any actions taken toward progress on a personal and or social level. Yes, do what you want.

I don't get vegetarians, it's just the way of nature, humans eat animals, animals eat us, animals eat other animals, there is no hostility. Just the need to fill up your stomach so you can survive the day. Aslong as you don't mistreat or abuse animals during the process it's fine.

Agreed.
Besides vegetarians want to fight for animal rights? Why don't they stop eating the animals food then.
