Should killing ants/snails be considered animal cruelty?

Even if it is, no one's going to fight for them unfortunately.

IMO, Killing them when they are becoming pests is fine as long as you kill them in quickly.

Some people though, like this guy:

Are only doing it for "fun".

I guess if you're going outside with the intention of killing them all because you just want to, it's fun, that is wrong, but if they are invading your home you need to take precautions. I have ants invading the kitchen, bedroom and bathrooms every day, I'm not going to make sure every single one of them of literally thousands is safely escorted back outside.

If I see spiders or cockroaches though I'd be lying if I said I don't instantly step on them with a hard boot because jesus christ they scare the living daylights out of me.

I'd say it depends on what the intentions are:
If you do not intend to kill any ants/snails or slugs, but do so unintentionally just walking or something - I'd call that an accident as with any other animal killed this way and hardly something to be fined for or animal cruelty.
As for other intentions such as trying to keep slugs from eating up your garden, making sure cows don't eat them and get sick as well as keeping ants from invading your home etc., that is, I'd say, a good reason to invest in pesticide or whatever way of controlling this.

As far as stepping on ants, doing whatever to slugs or snails be it using salt or some other method, just to kill or torture them, that IS animal cruelty and sure, why not? Fine them, arrest them depending on the severity.

Yes, intentionally killing anything for the fun of it is messed up. I once killed a ladybug with a magnifying glass as a kid...I think that's the first time I felt empathy because it made me really sad :T_T:

But it's not really enforceable as a law, although salting a snail/ magnifying glass burning an ant would be if they got caught, but then again, it's mostly just kids that do it.

Nope, if I'm eating and there's a big ant walking on the table like it owns the place, you can bet I'm going to eliminate it.
