Many people think Kishi ruined itachi's character when was revieled to be good. Is this true or not?
because hes so arrogant that he viewed them as insects not worth itt, showed no visible enjoyment for combat
and thenalmost immediatley afterwards, orders kisame to murder kakashiKakashi wondered why Itachi wouldn't kill him
again why use full power on ants), Itachi held back when he fought, etc.
given he is one, this is wrongThe manga was basically telling us that he killed everyone he liked/loved for no reason. That's just bad writing. His personality was also not fit for a villain's.
thats basically what we are still told now. itachi rushed into genocide without targeting the few people actually responsible, or making efforts to maybe resolve it all without bloodsheds that he killed everyone he liked/loved for no reason
he is way too violent cruel and insane to not be one, as shown by his brutal tortures and beatingsHe is way too calm and sane to be one in this series.
which he wasnt the moment he tortured his brother to insanityIt was better writing for him to be a good guy,
given he was never good and is still evil, i doubt this.

is that why he was a violent torturing sociopath for most of his life? and showed loyalty only to himself given his plans for brainwashing and murder, and his advocation of letting orochimaru and danzo do whatever they want?. I believe the purpose of his character was to show that true love and self-sacrifice and loyalty to the greater good can really exist in the Uchiha line.
not really.it was itachi who corrupted and tortured sauske to insanity, and put his need to manipulate and trick sasuke above the defence of the world vs psychopaths like danzo kabuto and oro. he put konoha above everywhere else with his doomed KA plan.ne. It was actually Itachi who "broke the cycle of the Uchiha hatred" by putting the greater good of the world above the pride of his clan
it also reflects why its not a good idea to torture small children and turn them into power hungry obsessed killersreflects the tough choices people must make even in real life when faced with inescapable situations and fates.

murdering 6 jins, murdering his family, torturing sasuke twice, giving sauske the worst beating in the series, torturing kakashi and torturing naruto says otherwiseHe's not cruel, violent, or insane.
anti heroes are more like jerks who are inherently good. itachi is evil and knows it. he placed manipulating sasuke above the safety of thousands.he definitely did do morally questionable things. He's an anti-hero.

also his idea of loyalty to the greater good is only everbeing loyal to one city, and said city isnt even a nice place

Itachi's character is a whole bunch of bs. Kishi wanted him to be bad then he asspulled an entire conspiracy involving him.
Actually, most people think quite the opposite. They love him as a good guy. However, the thing is that everyone wanted to see him as a bad guy as well, because he was so epic and he wouldn't ever get annoying at times (the way that sometimes Orochimaru, Obito, Madara, and others do).
When he was a bad guy, he ranked 9th in the popularity polls. When he was a good guy, he ranked 5th.
As for whether it ruined his character, not at all imo. It wasn't "bs" and only haters say things like that. His character was purposely made to be ambiguous. In the 1st databook, it stated that in his life he only went on one S-Rank mission (hint-hint) and in the 2nd databook which came out in 2006, it stated that his true motives had not yet been revealed and that there's more to him (hint-hint). Then, there were hints throughout Shippuden as it was leading up to his final fight and even in pt1 (said that he, Kisame, & other Akatsuki could not defeat one person [that lie], showed no visible enjoyment for combat, Kakashi wondered why Itachi wouldn't kill him, Itachi made multiple excuses and stated he didn't want to fight, Itachi warned Asuma & Kurenai, Itachi and Kisame stopped at a tea shop...when they were supposed to capture Naruto and in a village that looks for them (they obviously wanted to get noticed & Itachi was in no hurry...mainly because he wasn't there for that), Itachi held back when he fought, etc.
Also keep in mind that making Itachi a villain wouldn't make much sense. In pt1, the story was that he was a good, respectful person but then he one day snapped and killed everyone to test how strong he was...when he was praised to be the best of his generation. That makes no sense. He already knew he was the best and he also claimed that his entire life had been a facade at that point, but one cannot fake the way they act at every moment during the age of 4 or 10 or even 13. The manga was basically telling us that he killed everyone he liked/loved for no reason. That's just bad writing. His personality was also not fit for a villain's. He is way too calm and sane to be one in this series. All the other ones can be composed, but they do go crazy when something is wrong or under ideal circumstances (Maddy when Hashi's around, Oro when Hiruzen was sealing his arms, Obito anytime Rin is mentioned, Nagato when Yahiko died, etc). Itachi is the most stoic character in the series and the villains are insane to an extent, he doesn't fit the bill for that at all. It was better writing for him to be a good guy, that makes more sense.
He's not cruel, violent, or insane. And he only told Kisame to do that after Kakashi started blurting out what he knew about them.
Yeah, he definitely did do morally questionable things. He's an anti-hero.
