Yes, I would recommend watching the anime till the TS and then reading the manga till the current chapter. The anime does do a good job with the OST's/VA's & even fight scenes. Although there are some censored scenes here and there but gets worse later on. Just watch the anime till the end of arlong park arc and make your decision if you want to continue or not.
I would recommend it. The drawing style needs a little getting used to, but its more than worth it.
I prefer the anime, but most people prefer the manga. Of course when you catch up with the anime you cannot just stay away from the manga. Also the manga is also very well drawn among others and is very detailed to say the least.

I prefer the anime.It's definetely worth watching.Here's a list of fillers.
There's fillers mixed in with canon episodes but it s blanded in so well that you wouldn't know it's filler unless you read the manga.The noticeble filler content is from the purely filler eps which i recommend skipping.
To be exact there 666 episodes so far.

yes you should and i recommend watching both the English Dub and Japanese Dub they are both very good, by the way the English Dub of One Piece is made by Funimation it's the same company that Dubs the Dragon Ball Series into English.

Of course you should. These days I'm more interested in One Piece than Naruto. It's well written and far from being complete. Just watch the anime and skip the filler episodes. A simple google search will get you a list of he filler episodes.
It does start out a little slow. I'd watch it until you get reasonably far (like water 7/enies lobby) and if you still aren't digging it, ditch it. It kicks so much ass I don't see how anyone can not enjoy it.
A lot of people don't watch it because they don't like the art style. I'll admit at first I wasn't really a fan of it either but it has grown on me. Honestly it just keeps getting better.

Of course we recommend you to watch it. Or else we wouldn't stay long within One Piece fandom. 
It's just that... you have to start with less expectation from episode 1. Soon you'll be hook by the story plot first before the art and eventually you'll get used with basically anything in the series. I bet you're gonna say, "Oh. Then again, it's OP style" on everything regardless it's being negative or positive. Most scenes are unexpected so watch out a bit. For sure though, you'll enjoy them; the craziness, comedies, adventures, epic, emotions, sentiments, foreshadows etc.

The anime is really slow until first 90 episodes, and the first major arc starts after 250...
