2011 boss since its pretty much a remake of the original version, which means better animation.

Yes, actually its better than the original since it's more in depth in my opinion.
Also the original stopped at greed island arc, while the 2011 version went past that and now currently at chimera ant art. It seems like they plan to adapt the entire manga.
Overall there is more content on the new version, and I suggest you just watch it instead since its pretty much the same story but with better animation and extra added contents.

yes it does but 2011 make your existing feeling better than 1999 and it already went further into the manga now we are in the middle of chimera ant arc and that is half far from the greed island arc and it will continue until the arc finish

Watch the 2011 version, although it has a few tweaks compared to the original it's still amazing and ofcourse a better animation, also unlike the original the 2011 version covers more of the manga o-o
