Fact of the matter is that a game like Yu-Gi-Oh isn't fair. Not anymore. Multiple factors in the game make it like that, as well as the players themselves and deck build choices. Konami has also played a large part in the way the game functions now. You can still enjoy playing the game, but not in the way that most people would want to. The game is extremely competitive nowadays, variations in deck builds and general archetype is not very far and wide. There are still ways to counter the builds that rule the game, and that's by building counter-decks. Basically, you need to build something that is designed specifically to counter as many opponent plays as possible. That's the way the game is nowadays. You're either one of the many players using one of a certain few archetypes and builds, or you're a player that's using a counter-deck. If you're not either of those, and you're trying to have fun playing casual, you're better off playing with a friend.
