We are way above every other animal on the planet to the point at which we shouldn't be compared to them. They are lesser beings no matter which way you slice it. They aren't sentient like us. They can't think like us.

Now does that mean we should abuse them? Hell no.

Animals dont deserve to be treated in some ways they get treated, people have very different and individual relationships with different animals.
If animals for example horses are "taken care of" by humans, then its good enough if they are taken care of in a humane way. no pun intended.
Then ofcourse the ideal goal is that there will be less cruelty. but there is no perfect answer.

You have to weigh the pain and pleasure of what is being done. The pleasure someone may receive does not outweigh the pain that is being inflicted. Anyone with moral consideration for others knows this.
