Unexpected twist, though I had been wondering for a while now what Hayama was up to. Figured he would be part of the rebel gang because of his affection for Shiomi and her seminar, which was disbanded, but he was never shown. So I don't really get what his gig is and why he's being such a douche towards Soma?
The sole reason why he even was able to become a member of the E10, was because there were people opposing Azami. Three people were removed from the council because they did not approve of Azami and I seriously doubt any of them would lose to Hayama and logically if you quickly need to fill in three open vacancies, the most prominent candidates would be the ones who preformed the best at the Autumn Selection. On top of that Soma & co have been fighting continuously against Central and achieved numerous victories, including one against an E10 member (granted he wasn't being totally serious, but still).
So what is Hayama blabbering about that Soma was fooling around when he was "making his way to the top"? How is there a better training method than competing against the ones who stand at the top to reach the top? It pretty much comes down to that Hayama got his position because of the circumstances while Soma and the others are hammering their own path. Lastly Hayama and Soma were almost equal in every aspect and if Hayama loses, he pretty much becomes the laughing stock of the school as he immediately lost against a rebel after becoming a part of the E10.
So hayama is getting blackmailed, loving this development. Though it will be a completely draw or souma will beat him 10 out of 10 because souma's expulsion is on the line.
How is he getting blackmailed?
