In that case we have no evidence of the forces Shisui encountered. I highly doubt Danzo went alone to take Shisui's eye, or that he even went at all. With multiple enemies, KA is easy to break.

You don't understand Shisui or Itachi. They loved their clan and wanted it to maintain its honor, but they also wanted to protect the people of their home. They weren't "lap dogs" and did what they thought was right. Also, more than likely, Shisui was ambushed by multiple shinobi considering that Danzo always has his bodyguards around. A fight most certainly ensued and Shisui got away before they could kill him which was the smart thing to do. Why would you stay and fight a losing battle?
