One of the better theories around here for quite a while!

However, I'm a bit skeptical about shinsusenju being the gedo mazou, mainly because Kurama knew a lot about the Juubi, and he explained into details its looks and strength. Especially the "gourd" or whatever it is on its back. Nonetheless, it's a nice theory, possible, but unlikely if you ask me.
The best argument is probably the link, that both Obito and Nagato could summon it, even when Obito didn't have any of Madara's DNA, so the only thing they had in common was Hashi's DNA.

but didnt obito say that he needs sauske so he can link with the gedo, that would imply sauske was compatible already unless obtio planned on doing something to him but why would he wanna give sauske hashi cells knowing what he did with the power he earned form orochimaru

Thing is that Hashirama's Wood Release is on a different scale than others. Since it's a Yang derrived technique it hosts Hashirama's life within it. It's not Hashirama's literal DNA which is why the Zetsu are retarded, weak versions. Orochimaru actually got a hold of Hashirama's body and could clone him properly as you see with Danzo, Yamato, and the face on Madara's chest.

Anyways, the statue could have been heavily modified once Madara formed a contract with it. The Rinnegan allows the user to use the Animal Path to form summonings with the bodies that are struck with the black Yin Rods. As such, anyone who has the Rinnegan can summon the statue because it has that same black material within it.

Something is up, and I feel Madara is just not telling Obito the whole story.

While your explanation is wrong, there is another, which could hold:
Madara wouldn't need a contract with it. If he has Hashirama's blood, and his eyes are the combination of his and Hashi's DNA, he would practically have a summoning contract with it, and so would Nagato.

I don't think the black rods have anything to do with the summoning bonds. The black rods allows complete control over the target. That is why Nagato can control the gedo mazou with the black poles connecting them. It's also how he controls his other bodies.

Animal path can summon humans with a reverse summoning technique. Similar to the way the toads can summon Naruto.

I'm pretty sure I am not completely right on this but regardless something is amiss. Too many seemingly needless things are here like the Yin material on the statue that crippled Nagato. It was more like he was the slave to the statue than the other way around.
