If it'll roll out that way then we might as well count on Boruto losing a limbo or two, or almost losing them since (plot armor) will inhibit that from happening. Boruto will go out for sure, but Shinki won't play around either, but he also won't use all of his power. He'll probably be restricted, because he wants to conserve his chakra for his greater opponent, Mitsuki.
Yeah this is just setup for their rivalry, to keep it consistent with the manga
where Shinki was jealous of Boruto for defeating Momoshiki because he was a weakling to him

I thought he fights Mitsuki before Boruto, in any case he can't be reserving too much power. Boruto probably will be shielded by plot, all MC characters have that but, I am predicting for Mitsuki to drain Shikni's energy and then in the next match Boruto beats him.
Boruto fought surprisingly really well against the Hoshigaki dude 1 vs 1. I think Boruto has a chance.

As much as I want Lord Shinki to rek Mitsuki's shit, I'm hundred procent certain that his fight against Mitsuki will drain his energy. Even more so if Mitsuki decides to use a tiny bit of his sage powers. Lord Shinki is going to be exhausted therefore in a huge disadvantage at the end.

Gaara all over again. I can tell you in advance that Shinki is going to eat his own words and probably be defeated by a headbutt later in the series.

Metal Lee was a huge disappointment as well. He lost easily to Shinki. He couldn't penetrate Shinki's absolute defense in his Iron Sand, doubt if he can even use the gates. His Snake Sage mode was able to cause damage to Shino, though I don't know how much he held back.He was clearly distressed. Boruto will be the winner, his draw is also helping him out, but he can put up a fight on his own, without the device.

I mean its true though. Let's examine his abilities. He can use that Wind Style: Gale Palm jutsu (he thrusts a shadow clone using wind).@bold:nice fanfic.
He can make Shadow Clones, I believe 4 is his limit but he is actually strategic with his shadow clones. To him quality matters more than quantity.
Rasengan - albeit much shittier when compared to Naruto, Jiraiya, and Minato, etc.., but he can improve.
Vanishing rasengan - Momoshiki didn't know what hit him.
Shurikenninjutsu
Taijutsu and his CQC is very coordinated.

No it's not that's why he's been cheating his way through. As an example he tried to use SCJ against some mist nin who I have no doubt possessed shitter CQC, thaijutsu GF or ability yet got negged.
He doesn't have the rasengan he pulls that out for plot convenience at the end of the momo arc.
His only lightning tech so far is stream granted he pulled out TCA in filler version. His boruto stream only works on fodder or people who arent serious hence it hasn'tbeen used since.
Shinki negs no difficulty vanishing rasengan wouldn't do f'all and at this ppint even Boruto considers it a useless jutsu.
Even 100 SC wouldn't help him get past the coat ao 2 puppets Shink uses.
He stands 0 chance save for plot protection he may get.

This sounds like an excuse. He did it in a real life battle situation. For example, take his battle against Shikadai, you could see the struggle on Shikadai's face in CQC that he had to use a long ranged Shadow Posession Jutsu to trap him. His close hand combat is unreal,he also used Sasuke's set of moves against Iwabe expanding his Taijutsu abilities and Sasuke didn't even teach him that.
That same Mist Nin wanted to launch a Shinobi World War, anybody who sounds of such threats must be taken seriously
We could literally say this about any character. I think he just gave it a shot. Sasuke trusted him with it. It wasn't plot convin, he just had that hidden ability.
He can use Boruto Stream and he has done so against some noteworthy opponents. Kakashi being the strongest one he has used it on.
Overall dude you might be right, because he gets some insane powerups, sometimes I am thinking to myself what is he going to do without the Kote, because the entire Chunin Exams he had help plus Naruto enhanced his Rasengan at the end of the movie to help take down Momoshiki, but I don't think he is fodder in some areas like Taijutsu, Lightning and Wind release techniques. I don't exactly know how to judge Boruto because he has potential, but he hasn't shown it.
Never mind, I wasn't completely right on Boruto till I watched the fillers.
