[Theory] Shinju

A couple of developments came up this week about the Shinju. Sasuke seems to have chosen Snake and the White Zetsu army appears to be no more. I'll try and put something together on Sasuke's choice when I get the chance. For now I'll focus on the White Zetsu.

The Asura Style Zetsu convert from living mokuton into actual trees in the presence of the actual Asura Host because of the overabundance of Yang Energy or Lifeforce. Naruto, the Bijuu and Hagoromo all appearing together seems to have eradicated the remnants of the Zetsu Army:

This is what happens to Mokuton when Naruto first develops his Nine Tails Chakra Cloak:

This also happens when Naruto comes into contact with the Zetsu Army while in his Nine Tails Cloak:

The second development that we had was the first indication that Kaguya was missing her heart:

Hagoromo reminisces about how Kaguya’s character changed sometime after she ate the fruit:

This to me suggests outside forces. I generally suspect the interference of a Snake (Oro) in the affairs of a Rabbit (Kaguya):

Cursed seal would be one option but in that scenario the soul remains in the body. One alternative that I think might fit is a mind transfer technique:

Samehada behaves like a human but is made of a plant. It is unable to resist the will of whoever wields it but it can make its preferences clear as seen when it chose B over Kisame:

As far as I can tell, this black substance can take many forms :-

Black Rods

Black Wires

Black Sand particles.

Fluid Black Rods

Black Truth seeking Balls.

Black Staffs

I wonder if there are even more forms.

Black Sand is understood to be Iron whereas there is mystery over the exact composition over the other materials. Onmyoton is the name ascribed by Tobi but he refers to it as a legend. There are some possible Bijuu connections for Iron Sand but I'm sort of 50/50 in terms of whether to include it with the rest. In the other direction I think there is some crossover between BZ and Cursed Seal though:

Actually, now that I think about it, even Samehada has black rod like needles on it's hilt. It uses it to give chakra and attack people not compatible with the sword. The usage of the black needles on Samehada is the same as black rods, i.e; transfer of Chakra.

There's degrees of black. Samehada is called Sharkskin because the leaves are grey. When the roots come out they are usually white…unless I've missed something. It's hard to know where the lines between BZ / Black Rods / Cursed Seals / Onmyoton lie. They could all be related but this is a black and white Manga so I could be imagining all the connections. I think it would make for some good reveals over the course of the final battle though.
