Can Shikamaru hear Sakura and Sai's conversation from that distance?

It just makes me wonder, once Sasuke reverts back to being the villian (if he does), if Shikamaru is going to play a significant role. Like coming up with a plan to defeat Sasuke(which will fail, setting up the Naruto vs Sasuke fight) or one of his speeches like he gave Sakura before.

Shikamaru is one of rookies that was a major factor in defeating an akatsuki, so I hope Kishi gives him another big moment, instead of these small ones with his team.

as we have seen in the war, all of a sudden some characters using new great jutsus and moves so in time shika will have his time where we will see him using new powerful jutsus

Skikamaru most definitely would get a bigger role to play if Sasuke becomes the villain. I think it would be Naruto. Sakura and Sai or Shikamaru
